Groups, weddings and special occasions

Sungubala offers an ideal venue for group getaways. Groups may enjoy the privilege of having exclusive use of the camp, rather than being a small group in a big establishment.

Group getaways that would enjoy Sungubala include:

The Thatched lapa can seat up to 60 people comfortably with a special outlook over the Putterill Valley. This area can also be used for social gathering or a unique "conference" room.

Sungubala offers catering for groups. A dinner, bed and breakfast rate applies and meals are wholesome country style cooking.

Soft drinks are on sale and groups may bring their own alcohol requirements, for which refrigeration is supplied.

Evenings are usually spent around the camp fire, under the clear Africa Sky or in the Boma lounge with fireplace for the cooler or wetter evenings.

Weddings

We can accommodate upto 60 guests. Why? Because that is as many as we can seat under cover, if it rains or the weather does not oblige in any other way!!!

Upto 26 people can be accommodated to overnight at the camp. Guests may also choose from the range of accommodation in the area, that which suits their taste best. Please contact us for more information.

Guests residing at other Lodges are transported to the camp in a 4x4, on the day of the wedding. 4x4 owners are welcome to use their own.

We offer a “Mountain Feel” to the ceremony. A minister can be arranged if necessary ( a cost may apply). The ceremony takes place under a large Acacia Thorn tree, or in the boma lounge if the weather turns. The Reception is held under a thatched lapa, overlooking a deep valley.

While we do not offer a decorating service, we can set the venue up with a warm, country feel, but one is welcome to do the decorating personally or engage the services of a local team, specialising in functions.

The camp is essentially self catering, with us providing the reception meal. Further catering can be arranged.
